Lentigines are shallow collections of skin pigment known as melanin that accrues inside the top layer of skin called the epidermis. Ephelides are ordinary in lighter type skin. Lentigines are observed in later in life and can arise in all skin types. Age spots are flat, yellow or brown. If you have irregular, dark spots which augment in size or change color then consult your doctor because it is a sign of skin cancer.

Natural Treatments for Age Spots:
Followings are the home remedies for the age spots.
Aloevera: Aloevera is natural curative agent for age sports. Aloevera juice can easily cure the burns. Massage fresh aloe juice or gel on the age spots. Apply aloevera gel twice a day for one or two months.
Apple cider vinegar: Combine 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 teaspoon of orange juice. With the help of the cotton pad, apply this mixture on the age spots.
Bilberry herb: This herb works as an antioxidant and reduce the aging process. You may take 4-8 oz. of fresh berries, 20-40 mg anthocyanosides or 80-160 mg of bilberry extract every day.
Buttermilk: Buttermilk contains lactic acid and other ingredients that are helpful to the skin and can fight aging process. Pat buttermilk on the age spots. Generally it is used as a skin cleanser.
Castor oil: You may apply castor oil on the age spots twice daily, in the morning and again in the evening. Massage the castor oil on the age spots. Regularly apply and see the result within one month.
Chickpeas: Take fresh chickpeas. Crush about 1/3 cupful and mix some water. Apply this paste on the age spots and wait till it dries. When it dries, wash it with water.
Dandelion: Break open a dandelion stem. Apply the juice on the age spots daily for 2-3 times.
Lemon juice: Apply some fresh lemon juice on the age spots and wash it when it becomes dry. It is effective way to cure an age spots as it bleaches them. It also boosts your skin’s sensitivity against sunlight. Tartness of the juice helps in fading the spots entirely.
Horseradish root: Combine1 teaspoon grated horseradish root, 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon vinegar and 3 drops rosemary essential oil. Apply this combination on your age spots with a cotton ball every day for 1 or 2 times.
Gotu kola: Gotu kola is very old Chinese herb. Add 1/8 teaspoon of powdered Gotu kola herb with one cup of herbal tea. You can also mix 1/8 teaspoon of powdered Gotu kola herb to simple hot water and also combine 1/8 teaspoon of ginseng and a pinch of cayenne. For few days, apply this combination to the age spots.
Other natural remedies:
* Apply oils that hold vitamin E on your face because it helps in decreasing the spots. Vitamin E works as an antioxidant and helps in fighting free radicals.
* Rubbing a piece of sliced red onion on age spots can also help them to disappear.
* Rub the garlic juice on the age spots with a cotton ball twice daily. Follow this process for six to eight weeks, they start to fade away.
* You should consume 8-10 glasses of water every day. Fruit juices should be included in your diet. It helps age spot elimination.
* Stay away from sweets, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and junk foods.
* Use a sunscreen lotion to avert your skin from effects of the sun on your skin. It should be used minimum one-half hour before sun exposure.
* Consume lots of lean and high quality protein foods. Uncooked fruits should also be included in your diet to supply the vitamins and minerals.
* Apply some sandalwood paste to pretentious areas.
* Rubbing fresh cucumber slices or its juice on age spots is very helpful to get rid of age spots.
